Maritime-Matters.Media is a website run by people who are inspired by the sea and the ocean. The marine and maritime space is comprehensive and complex. Buzzwords like The Maritime Industriy is Essential for Global Trade or Without Global Trade, Industry would simply not exist are widely known.

Significant work is being done theoretically, academically and practically to improve human ability to manage the maritime domain – but much of this is not immediately visible or apparent. As such, Maritime-Matters.Media wants to fight seablindness.

Maritime matters for several reasons:

Trade: Maritime transportation is a critical component of global trade. Approximately 90% of world trade is carried by ships, including raw materials, energy, and finished goods. Without maritime transportation, the global economy would come to a standstill.

Security: Maritime security is important for national security and the safety of citizens. Maritime piracy and terrorism, as well as the smuggling of drugs and weapons, are significant security threats. Opposing and prohibiting them requires deep international cooperation.

Environment: The oceans play a critical role in regulating the Earth’s climate and supporting biodiversity. However, they are also vulnerable to pollution, overfishing, and climate change. Maritime industries have a responsibility to protect the marine environment and promote sustainable practices.

Exploration: The oceans hold vast unexplored regions and offer opportunities for scientific research, discovery, and innovation. Studying the oceans can help us better understand our planet, its history, and its future.

To sum up, one can say that maritime matters because it is an essential foundation of our daily life and vital prerequisite of our well-being.
